Re-Wilding Goes Greener Project (Selby Meadows) – New Town Action Group

Newtown Action Group was created 14 years ago with Selby Meadow becoming a community garden, but has since grown as the local council asked various areas across the county to take greater responsibility for their communities. Along with tending to tasks such as dealing with grit bins, paths and parking, they act as a conduit for local residents to raise concerns or potential issues, which they will then take up with the relevant authorities. They also work with a children’s group in Uckfield, who provide a weekly small child and mother group.

New Town Action group are putting together a working party, and are requesting people of all ages and abilities to help plant trees and re-wild a community green space, Selby Meadows of Uckfield TN22 5EB.

They also have a timber tool shed to build, hedging to clear area and re-plant.

There will also be litter picking, removing glass and debris making the area safe for children, animals and families. Their first Working Party is booked, dependent on dry weather, for Sunday 24th of March at 11am to 1pm and a a follow up Working Party on Sunday 21st April 11am to 1pm.

Refreshments will be provided.

They are in need of as many who would like to be part of this Going Greener Project as possible, the Meadow is always in need of volunteers in planting and weeding and taking part in events through out the year. Everyone is welcome, they are open to all who want to enjoy the meadow and volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome.
