Social Media Volunteer – Wealden Volunteering
About this organisation
Wealden Volunteering was founded over 30 years ago by the community for the community.
Our award winning centre, originally named Uckfield Volunteer Centre, provides an invaluable community hub serving Uckfield and the surrounding area. As of 2024 we re-branded to become Wealden Volunteering to reflect our growth, as we now cover Crowborough and Heathfield.
Our primary role is to match people wanting to volunteer with charities or community groups needing help. Listings for current volunteering opportunities can be found on our website here, or if you prefer to have a chat with someone face-to-face, you can come into the centre at 79 High Street, Uckfield (just up from the cinema).
As well as helping people with volunteering, we also provide local information such as bus timetables, a photocopying & laminating service, and replacement hearing aid batteries to name a few. In addition, we support community groups and local charities, who are our members, by providing networking events and training.
The centre is run by a dedicated team of volunteers.
About this opportunity
We’re currently recruiting for a social media volunteer at Wealden Volunteering!
Do you want to gain experience with social media in a professional capacity? Or perhaps you’re looking to utilise skills you already have? You could be just who we’re after.
Social media is becoming an increasingly important part of how we interact as a charity. Getting the word out about upcoming events we’re involved with, or advertising roles that our members have, we try where able to use social media to reach as many people as possible and spark some interest.
Any applicants will need to be familiar with both windows OS, and social media platforms. Currently we use Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter (X), however this might change depending on which platforms are most useful. If you’ve got good knowledge in using one or two but not the others, don’t worry, you can learn as you go, and our other volunteers in the office will be on hand to help where possible.
This role will be the hours to suit you. We are open on a Monday and Wednesday from 10am till 1pm, on a Tuesday and Thursday from 10am – 4pm, and on the first Saturday of each month from 10am – 1pm. Usually a shift will be 3 hours, either in the morning or afternoon, however with social media you can also volunteer from home as and when you need to – once up to speed on how to use our pages.
There is no age restriction for this role, and multiple candidates can share the position. This is perfect for anyone seeking work experience, and anyone looking to start a career in social media by getting your first foot on the ladder!
