Gruffalo Fun Event Volunteers – Friends of Sussex Hospices

About this organisation
Friends of Sussex Hospices is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers. It raises funds, through a variety of activities, to support the running costs of the twelve hospice care providers that serve the adults and children of Sussex. FSH works alongside our hospices, promoting awareness of the invaluable services provided by them to our community.
About this opportunity
Gruffalo Fun Days are now an annual fund-raising event held the in May Half term – Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th.
Hosted at Framfield Grange a short distance from Uckfield, it is aimed at young children – toddlers up to 10 years of age. We require volunteers to assist with a variety of activities, for example pond dipping, serving in the tea tent, dressing in the Gruffalo Costume, helping with craft activities and various games.
We also require assistance with putting up marquees and equipment in advance.
We can have as many as 500 people attending each day (which runs from 10am to 4.00pm), so you’ll be part of a large team helping to run all of the activities. Volunteers can give a portion of their time to suit, a whole day, or the entire event if able! And with so much going on there is a wide variety of roles to suit.
Ideally applicants will enjoy engaging with youngsters, and being outdoors volunteers should wear appropriate footwear and clothing determined by the weather.
