Warehouse weighing, stacking and shelving – Uckfield Foodbank

We supply three days of food for people who are in food poverty. We have an office and warehouse on the industrial estate and a distribution centre at The Hub in the centre of Uckfield. We open on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The role of the warehouse volunteer is to weigh in donations, check the dates and ingredients and to shelve the donations in accordance with our system. Volunteers will also be expected to make up boxes ready to send to the distribution centre. There is lifting and shifting involved so anyone applying would need to take account of that, but you’ll be working with another volunteer.

The warehouse shifts are from 10am – 12pm and 12 – 2pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. Most volunteers offer one or two slots a month. These are flexible so you do not do the same day every week, although you could specify the second Tuesday and third Friday if that is easier. It would be a permanent position for the right candidate. We are open to volunteers throughout the year.

Due to safeguarding and health and safety we can only accept volunteers aged 18 or over. We do not currently seek a DBS check but do ask that volunteers are willing to complete one if we request it.
