Volunteer Youth Work Assistant for LGBTQ+ Sessions – Youth Hub East Sussex

The Heathfield youth hub sessions are safe spaces for people aged 11 to 19 (or 8 to 25 with special educational needs).

We have a range of clubs and activities for young people.

All our clubs and activities are LGBTQ+ friendly. We also welcome young people with special education needs and disabilities (SEND).

We are looking for people with knowledge of the queer community to volunteer at our LGBTQ+ youth sessions, which occur once a week. At each session we complete different activities such as cooking, arts and crafts and sports. We are a safe space for young people to make new friends, seek support and advice and try new things.

You may be someone with previous experience of working with young people, working in LBGTQ+ spaces, or you might be looking to gain a valuable insight into youth work. You may have a skill or profession that you can teach our young people such as woodwork, or you may have some time available where you would like to give back to your local community. If you enjoy having therapeutic conversations, offering advice that promotes positive well-being and self-care this would be a great opportunity for you. Volunteers can be 16+ and will need to complete a DBS check with us. We are looking for volunteers who are eager to make a significant difference to the lives of young people.

As a volunteer, you will be able to complete various training courses including modules on LGBTQ+ awareness, receive 1:1 support and obtain acknowledgement of your efforts and achievements.
