Community Cohesion is the promoting of local communities, enriching and strengthening them in a sustainable and inclusive manner. A social policy created at the start of the century, its importance has only grown, with the goal of encouraging residents and organisations to foster stronger local bonds and help develop more united communities.

As a charity that chiefly connects volunteers with the right opportunities at local charities within our district, Wealden Volunteering are a proponent and active participant of Community Cohesion. However, we don’t stop at matching volunteers, as we are always seeking and working towards more ways in which to help.

One such enterprise is linking businesses with charities, providing companies with important social value and in turn generating resources and supplying much needed skills for charities. An example of this in action is in Uckfield; initiated by the Mayor of Uckfield, People Need People is forging these relationships, run by us at Wealden Volunteering and with help from the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce.

However the opportunity of linking up organisations is open to the whole of Wealden.

If you’re a business or charity within the Wealden area seeking such a connection, please get in contact with us here and we will work with you to try and establish an appropriate link to fulfil your needs.

And if you’re a resident in Wealden who is interested in getting involved with a local charity, please feel free to apply here, or browse our current list of opportunities here, and we’ll help you into that perfect position.
