Food Parcel Delivery Driver – Uckfield Foodbank

We supply three days of food for people who are in food poverty. We have an office and warehouse on the industrial estate and a distribution centre at The Hub in the centre of Uckfield. We open on Tuesdays and Fridays.

In this role, volunteers deliver food parcels to those who are housebound or unable to collect from our centre. We have some Uckfield deliveries but usually they are to the outlying villages and towns – Newick, Nutley, Buxted, Chailey, Halland, East Hoathly and some of Heathfield.

Volunteer drivers come to the warehouse to collect the deliveries, which are bagged and have a different coloured sticky dot for each client. You will be given a list of the addresses for delivery, which must be destroyed after the deliveries are complete. You deliver to the door but not into the property. We do try to keep the deliveries in an area but this is not always possible.

You must have your own car with business insurance on it. Some insurance companies may make a small charge but some do not make any charge. It is essential that you inform your insurance company that you are making these deliveries for a charity. Mileage can be claimed.

This role takes place on Friday afternoons between 2 – 4pm. Often volunteers do 2 sessions a month.
