Building Stronger Communities Together

At Wealden Volunteering, we believe community cohesion is more than a concept—it’s about creating real, meaningful connections that strengthen and enrich local life. One way we do this is by linking businesses with charities and community groups in practical, hands-on ways.

Instead of simply donating money, businesses can offer skills, resources, or time that make a visible difference. This approach delivers social value and allows companies to see the impact of their contribution firsthand.

How It Works

We match businesses that have something to offer with organisations that need practical help. These partnerships create win-win outcomes:

  • A local florist donating unclaimed bouquets to a therapy group, brightening their space and lifting spirits.
  • A company providing labour to install solar panels at a village hall, saving thousands in costs and supporting sustainability.
  • Businesses sharing expertise—IT support, marketing advice, or maintenance skills—to help charities thrive.

People Need People

This initiative began in Uckfield, championed by the Mayor and supported by the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce. People Need People is all about forging these connections—bringing businesses and charities together to share resources, skills, and time. Managed by Wealden Volunteering, the project has already delivered tangible benefits locally and is now expanding across the Wealden district. It’s a simple idea with a powerful impact: when people help people, communities grow stronger.

Why It Matters

This isn’t just giving back—it’s building stronger communities. Businesses gain a sense of purpose and connection, while charities receive the support they need to keep vital services running.
