Governor – Woodlands Federation Governing Board

About this organisation
We are the governing board of 2 schools, Punnetts Town Community Primary and Nursery School and Dallington C E Primary School, which form Woodlands Federation.
About this opportunity
Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of children?
Governors make a vital contribution to the success of our schools. All that is needed is commitment, a willingness to be part of a team and an ability to ask questions! Woodlands Federation Governing Board is made up of governors from all walks of life, with a range of different backgrounds, skills and experiences, but they all work together for the benefit of the schools in the federation.
The full Governing Board meets six to eight times per year during term time, on a Wednesday at 5.00pm for up to 2 hours – these meetings are face to face, but governors can also join remotely. Governors also use their identified skills and expertise in the Finance Committee and in working groups, which are created from time to time, these have a specific focus and report back to the full Governing Board.
What can we offer?
- A Chance to develop new skills and knowledge. Everyone has access to further free training to help build on existing skills or to develop new ones.
- An opportunity to collaborate with our team of governors and staff, all of whom are passionate about providing the very best primary education for all our children.
- A sense of achievement in making a difference to our schools.
It is helpful if any applicants are IT literate and as the schools are village schools being able to drive is also useful. Mileage and expenses can be claimed, we have a Governor Allowances Policy.
The term of office is 4 years, but governors are free to step down at any time.
Currently we have one vacancy, but there will be at least one more later this year.
Applicants must be aged eighteen or over, and agree to an enhanced DBS check being completed.
