Carers in Touch Phone Volunteer – Care for the Carers

About the organisation
We provide a range of services to help unpaid carers, as well as give information and advice so that no one has to care alone.
About this opportunity
Would you like to join a team of volunteers providing our ‘Carers in Touch’ service, a telephone listening service for unpaid carers who have been identified as at risk of being socially isolated.
The service provides an informal, friendly chat with carers to help them keep connected, remind them they are not alone, support their wellbeing and check they have suitable support systems in place.
As part of the role you would:
Make telephone calls to unpaid carers of up to 30 minutes in length.
Provide a ‘listening ear’ and friendly voice.
Signpost carers to the Care for the Carers Hub if extra support is needed.
Input the call information onto Care for the Carers database.
Deliver at least one 2 hour shift per week between Monday to Thursday 9am to 3pm.
We are looking for volunteers who:
Are empathetic, non-judgmental, and have a non-discriminatory approach.
Have good communication skills; able to chat with people on the phone.
Are reliable and can commitment to the role.
Have basic IT skills (training will be provided).
The role can be undertaken from your own home; we will provide the laptop and mobile phone. You will need to complete a DBS check with us, we cover the cost for this. The minimum age to volunteer with us is 18.
We are looking for volunteers who can make a commitment of two hours a week, however we are flexible when these two hours can be undertaken, anytime between Monday-Thursday 10am-3pm.
