Wealden Volunteering

As part of the ongoing evolution of our charity, we’re looking to recruit a Part-Time Fundraiser who can help out occasionally in our office too. We’re a small team of volunteers, led by our CEO Judith Austin, who connect prospective volunteers with their ideal position within the local community, as well as providing office services such as photocopying and laminating at affordable rates.

You would be tasked with helping to maintain the financial security of our charity by fundraising through various means, as well as assisting sometimes in our office on Uckfield High Street. Bring all of your experience, knowledge, and creativity with ways to generate the funds to help us continue our work.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and community-focused Fundraiser to help strengthen the long-term sustainability of Wealden Volunteering (WV).

This role is central to delivering our strategic aim of diversifying income streams and increasing organisational resilience, ensuring we can continue to connect volunteers with local organisations, reduce rural isolation, and build stronger, more cohesive communities across Wealden.

Alongside fundraising responsibilities, the postholder will play a role in some supporting office operations, providing flexible cover in the office when required.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Income Generation

  • Develop and deliver a fundraising plan aligned with WV’s sustainability goals in collaboration with CEO.
  • Support the development of new income streams to reduce reliance on short-term grants.
  • Write compelling reports demonstrating impact.
  • Work with staff to gather evidence, case studies, and data to support funding bids (e.g. wellbeing outcomes, reduced isolation, community engagement).
  • Monitor and report on fundraising performance and contribute to organisational financial planning.
  • To ensure a minimum amount is raised each year as agreed annually.

Partnerships & Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and funders to support collaborative projects and funding opportunities.
  • Represent WV at community events, networking meetings, and outreach sessions where appropriate for fundraising.

Office & Operational Support

  • Provide flexible office cover when required, supporting general administration and reception duties occasionally, if needed.
  • Assist with maintaining organisational records, systems, and databases relevant to fundraising and operations.
  • Support coordination of meetings, events, and internal processes relevant to fundraising.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure smooth service delivery and maximise fundraising efforts.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Proven experience in fundraising, or income generation (charity sector desirable).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey impact clearly and persuasively.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexible, team-oriented approach with willingness to support office operations when needed.
  • Confident building relationships with stakeholders and partners both businesses and organisations.
  • IT literate, including use of databases and Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential due to travel across rural areas).
  • Dependable self starter who wants to make a difference

Desirable but not essential

  • Knowledge of the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.
  • Understanding of rural communities and barriers to engagement.
  • Experience working in a small charity or multi-role environment.

Working Arrangements

  • Primarily office-based to support team collaboration and operational needs.
  • Some remote working possible by agreement.
  • Regular travel across Wealden to attend meetings and events. Mileage will be reimbursed.

Pay: From £8,424.00 per year
