Uckfield Volunteer Centre speaks to Uckfield FM

Our Manager Judith Austin featured on local radio station Uckfield FM on the 22nd of June, talking about the work we do here and the opportunities we have for any potential volunteers to come and join us, and also about our upcoming Volunteer Awards to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Volunteer Centre.

If you’d like to listen to the interview it can be found online here:

As the town opens back up, so too are we hoping to expand our hours back to full opening times so that we can continue to serve the town just as before the pandemic. Volunteering is a brilliant use of your time whatever stage of your life you’re at, helping to bolster a CV looking for a job and show the kind of person you are by helping others, or continuing to stay busy with assisting your local community.

Volunteering in our office is great fun and very easy to learn, we’re a friendly team of all ages and the role is whenever suits you, be that a couple of days a week or just one shift (I just do Thursday afternoons.)

Judith also spoke about our upcoming volunteer awards on September 30th. It’s an amazing chance to give recognition to someone you know who has been wonderful this past year. With five categories there’s plenty of choice and someone you know may qualify for more than one, so go ahead and get in that nomination! The categories are Service to our Community Award, Good Neighbour Award, Young Volunteer Award (under 25’s only, Happiest Volunteer Award, and Volunteer of the Year (open to our member organisations only).

We’d love to hear from you, whether you’re nominating someone or inquiring about volunteering. You can nominate someone here: on our website, or we also have forms in our office you can take away to fill out. If you’re interested in volunteering with us please feel free to pop in on one of our days we’re open, currently: Monday and Wednesday 10am – 1pm, and Thursday 10am – 3:45pm. Or alternatively call us on 01825 760019, or email us at
