Chairperson – Remap

REMAP is the UK’s only charity providing custom-made equipment, free of charge for people with disabilities.

Every year they help an average of 3,500 people with a disability, thanks in no small part to their network of 65 volunteer-run branches, and their charity is governed by a Board of Trustees.

As their local Chairperson, you’ll take the lead in making sure the Brighton and Sussex Remap group works as effectively as possible. You’ll bring your leadership, management, communication, organisation, and motivation skills to this role. Most importantly, you’ll help disabled people to live more independent lives.

IT literacy is required to navigate the systems used to communicate with Central Office and local members and to record work. The ability to attend meetings is required.

Though this is for their Brighton and Sussex group, you’ll be operating from home.

The role has no significant pattern to its work and involvement beyond a meetings programme; for which the Chairperson’s attendance is not always essential. Like most charity work roles there are busy times and less busy periods, but it helps if the Chair can be available for ongoing decision making or consultation. A willingness to attend local events to promote the charity’s work is essential, expenses for travel will be paid at the national rate.

A DBS check will be organised by Remap’s central office. There will be an online induction and some training to support your integration into the organisation.
