Shop Volunteer – The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare

The Kit Wilson Trust rescue and re-home unwanted animals, mainly cats and dogs, and have a wildlife rehabilitation program and an emergency helpline.

The Trust’s Rescue Centre is also home to horses, donkeys, cats, goats, birds and small mammals where, in the interest of their welfare, they remain in their care.

We have shops located in Hailsham, Heathfield and Uckfield.

We at the Kit Wilson Trust are seeking volunteers to help run our busy shops and raise vital funds to keep our rescue centre operating to care for and re-home unwanted animals.
There are so many fantastic reasons to volunteer with one of our shops (Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield) and there is a role for everyone!
As a shop volunteer, no two days are the same and there are is a huge variety of opportunities for you to take part in what we do; From being at the frontlines looking after our customers at the till to working behind the scenes to sort and prepare the pre-loved donations we receive on a daily basis!

This is a role that anyone and everyone can take something positive away from, no matter your background, age or experience! We are fully flexible around your commitments and are grateful for every minute our volunteers can give us, even an hour or two squeezed in around your busy week goes a long way!

A good cup of tea! Of course, refreshments are provided in the form of teas, coffees & biscuits!

Some of the roles you could take part in;

  • Working on our tills & customer service
  • Sorting and organising stock in our backrooms
  • Creating eye catching displays on our shop floor
  • Preparing & steaming our items before they are put out for sale

DISCLAIMER:

– Applicants are subject to a one month trial and satisfactory references.

This role is open to ages as low as 16, however applicants between 16-18 will need a Young Persons Risk Assessment (Provided by KWT), parental consent and a third party to act as a work-place co-ordinator (This could be from a school, college, local group or scheme etc.)

Flexible hours to fit with shop rota any time between the hours of 9:30 – 4:30.

Our Hailsham and Heathfield shops are located on their respective high streets, our Uckfield venue is located in Bell Walk – just off the high street.
