Station Operative – Bluebell Railway

About this organisation
The Bluebell Railway is one of the UK’s leading heritage railways, operating steam and diesel trains between Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes, Kingscote and East Grinstead. Run by over 1,000 volunteers, we work together to operate the railway, preserve historic locomotives, carriages and buildings, and provide memorable experiences for our visitors. Whether you have existing skills or simply want to learn something new, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved.
About this opportunity
Help bring the Bluebell Railway’s stations to life as part of a friendly volunteer team. Station Operatives help with the day-to-day running of our stations, welcoming visitors, assisting passengers, supporting train operations and helping keep the station looking its best. This is an ongoing volunteer role with plenty of variety and the opportunity to play an important part in the visitor experience.
Station opportunities are available on different days throughout the year, with volunteers able to choose the turns they wish to work. This can include weekdays, weekends and special events, making the role flexible and easy to fit around your existing commitments.
Volunteers will need to be comfortable speaking to the public. Full training will be provided, applicants must be aged 16 or over. Volunteers have access to a range of Bluebell Railway volunteer benefits.
