Events Manager – FRow Friends

We are the befriending group for Forest Row matching volunteer befrienders to older people who would like some regular company. Our befrienders try to pop in once a week for a cup of tea, a chat, maybe a game or puzzle or a local trip outside.

FRow Friends is seeking a volunteer Event Manager to help organise the twice yearly EarlyBird Cabaret in Forest Row.

If you are super organised with great networking skills, and want experience in the not-for-profit and theatre world, this could be a good fit.

Main tasks include:

  • Venue liaison, booking and management
  • Set up of online ticket sales, monitoring and management
  • Event volunteers – recruitment, briefing and management

On the day (always a Thursday from midday)

  • Backstage liaison and support
  • Briefing volunteers and management
  • Smooth running of the day / proactively sorting any issues that arise

The cabarets are in October and May and there tends to be a flurry of activity in the six weeks prior to each event (a few hours’ work a week). Our next cabaret is on the 13th of May 2027 and we need help for a few hours a week in the six weeks before the show and for 6 hours on the day.

There can be a physical element to helping backstage, with tasks such as opening the curtain for the show. Please note it can also be fairly dark backstage, however duties during the events themselves can be discussed as a group. The shows take place at Forest Row Village Hall.

Applicants for this role must be aged 18 or over.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a voluntary team who love to create fun and meaningful events for the older people in our village and the surrounding areas.
