Volunteer Activity Companion (Day Centre) – Sussex Support Service
About this organisation
They provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with extra care needs such as Parkinson’s, dementia or mental health issues. They support unpaid carers, run by a mixture of trained professionals and volunteers.
About this opportunity
They are looking for someone to welcome those using the centre, taking coats, and settling the service user area of the centre. You’ll be befriending, supporting and helping those using the centre to engage in activities and conversation, and provide the Day Centre Coordinator with practical help to ensure the smooth running of the day.
Engaging service users in activities, including but not restricted to:
- Singing
- Arts & Crafts
- Physical Activities
- Cognitive Activities
- Conversation
- Reminiscence Activities
These may be led by the Day Centre Coordinator, an outside facilitator or if yourself (as and when you feel confident to do so). The activities may be in a group or 1-1 depending on the needs and requirement of the service user.
