Rolling Stock Welder – Bluebell Railway

The Bluebell Railway is one of the UK’s leading heritage railways, operating steam and diesel trains between Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes, Kingscote and East Grinstead. Run by over 1,000 volunteers, we work together to operate the railway, preserve historic locomotives, carriages and buildings, and provide memorable experiences for our visitors. Whether you have existing skills or simply want to learn something new, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved.

Help preserve the Bluebell Railway’s historic carriages and other rolling stock by putting your welding skills to use. Working as part of a friendly volunteer team, you’ll carry out welding and associated metalwork as part of the restoration, repair and maintenance of our historic vehicles. This is an ongoing volunteer role for someone with welding experience who would enjoy using their skills in a unique heritage railway environment.

Opportunities are available on different days depending on the needs of the team and ongoing projects. Volunteers can discuss their availability with the team and choose when they are able to get involved around their existing commitments.

This role is open to applicants aged 18 or over. Previous welding experience is required – relevant qualifications or experience would be beneficial. Volunteers have access to a range of Bluebell Railway volunteer benefits.
