Refuge Support Volunteer – Interventions Alliance

Our trauma informed homes and outreach services provide a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for people as they build a better future. Our wraparound care is delivered in partnership with local agencies and others with lived experience to address a range of needs, vulnerabilities and risks.

We offer survivors of domestic abuse a safe place to re-establish their lives and comprehensive support tailored to their needs. Our homes are secure and our experienced team provides high-quality interventions and support that values, respects and empowers survivors. Through flexible, compassionate care, and a strong partnership network, we create ways for survivors to heal and rebuild their lives in a safe and supportive space.

We are seeking 2 Female Refuge Support Volunteers.

At Interventions Alliance our Volunteers play a key role by supporting staff to deliver positive impact through projects that address the range of needs of the participants we work with. Our volunteers work with adults as well as children and families running coffee mornings, activities and supporting individuals one to one.

This is a rewarding role, with many positive outcomes for those living at our Crowborough refuge. In return for your volunteering efforts we offer specialised training, paid expenses, and high level of support and supervision from a Volunteer Coordinator.

As a volunteer with Interventions Alliance you can:

  • Experience working with survivors
  • Benefit from a range of training opportunities
  • Be part of a team, supporting each other to support our participants
  • Learn new skills working within an evidence-based approach
  • Support people in rebuilding their lives

We ask for a minimum 12-month commitment following completion of vetting and training and a minimum of 3 hours per week during office hours. Our volunteers must understand the need for reliability, that they value punctuality and have good communication skills. The post is subject to enhanced DBS clearance.

This role is open to applicants aged 21 or over, and as previously stated, this is a gender specific role, so only women candidates can be considered. Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
