What is a Buggy Driver?
A buggy driver volunteer will provide a warm and friendly welcome for all visitors to Sheffield Park. This could include helping visitors orientate themselves, answering their questions and giving them the information they need to ensure they have an enjoyable and memorable visit, as well as your main role of transporting visitors between the reception building and the car park, overflow car park and the cafe. The Passenger Buggy is used to transport any visitors, but priority should be given to those with mobility issues.

Duties will include:
- Driving the Passenger Buggy safely and taking reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and others.
- Being responsible for basic visual checks, recording and reporting maintenance issues with the Buggy.
- Providing a warm, friendly welcome, and goodbye to all visitors and recognising the specific needs of all our visitors, including their special access needs.
- Advising visitors on routes, directions and areas of interest.
- Developing a good knowledge of Sheffield Park and Garden, its stories and what is on offer throughout that day, so that all visitors receive accurate and relevant information to enhance their visit.
- May include coach welcome and litter picking around the property.
- Becoming familiar with and following the National Trusts values, GDPR compliance protocol and Health & Safety and any other training as required.
- There may be times when we could use your help or assistance in other departments or activities according to business needs.
This role will suit people who…
- Have a full, clean driving licence.
- Are friendly, enjoy meeting new people, are confident and outgoing, and like helping others.
- This role will involve outdoors working.
Time commitment: Half a day (3 hours) or full day (6 hours) on Weekends, Bank Holidays, School Holidays, and over Autumn (Mid-Sep to Mid-Nov)
What you need to wear/bring: Weather-appropriate clothing and suitable footwear.
Training/Resources: Induction plus systems training as required. On-line training available. Passenger buggy driving training. Manual handling training.
Expenses Out-of-pocket travel costs between home and Sheffield Park will be paid for periods of 3 to 4 hours (or by agreement) to a maximum of 40-mile round trip and other reasonable expenses agreed in advance.
