Storeroom Volunteer – Uckfield Heritage

About this organisation

Uckfield Heritage (formerly the Uckfield and District Preservation Society) was founded in 1968, initially to protect and preserve Nutley Windmill and to encourage interest in the local history and environment of the parishes around Uckfield in East Sussex.

In 2007 they opened their Charity shop in Uckfield High Street to help generate funds to promote the works of the Society. In November 2023 their Charity shop relocated to larger premises at 6-7 Bell Walk, Uckfield.

This role would be carried out upstairs in their shop in Bell Walk, Uckfield. Working with other volunteers, you would help with sorting goods donated by members of the public and preparing them for sale in the shop. The role would not require contact with customers or members of the public.

No specific qualifications are required for this role. If you have sales or retail experience, that would be useful, but it is not a requirement.

Hours are by arrangement. The shop is open 6 days a week, 9-00 to 4-00. Volunteers would work hours convenient to them. Some of their current volunteers offer half a day a week, others a couple of hours here and there – they are grateful for the support volunteers can offer.

It would also be useful to have people who could cover for illness or holidays, sometimes at short notice. They are happy to talk to potential volunteers about how there available time can be used.

This role would be perfect for anyone looking for a position that doesn’t involve interaction with the public.
