Communications and Social Media Lead – Green Transition Crowborough

Green Transition Crowborough is a community-led group encouraging local action on climate change and sustainability.

We’re a friendly mix of eco-enthusiasts who care deeply about Crowborough and believe that small, everyday actions can add up to meaningful change.

Our work is guided by the values, principles and example of the Transition Network. https://transitionnetwork.org/

Founded in September 2021, GTC brought together several existing local groups. Our community has expanded and our groups now include the Repair Cafe, the Community Pantry, Community Orchard, Wildlife, Artytime Scrapstore and more.

Green Transition Crowborough (GTC) is effectively an ‘umbrella’ organisation, bringing together charity groups. We have a Coordination Committee with representatives from all of our various parts, who meet, as a Committee, to organise events, communications and initiatives that are intended to increase awareness of us, and to encourage more people to actively do what they can to improve sustainability.

At our ‘umbrella’ level we have a website (greentransitioncrowborough.org.uk) which has recently been developed using Squarespace. We have a Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/GreenTransitionCrowborough), which has seen bursts of activity. Finally we use Mailchimp to send monthly Newsletters to a readership of approximately 650. We have made a good start, but we know that we now need to spread our wings further, get more people to engage with us and generally have a more ‘joined up” approach to our Communications Strategy. Could you help us with that?

You would be welcome to join us at one or more of our GTC Committee meetings. We meet around 6 times a year in Crowborough, or on Zoom. One of our GTC Committee will be your main point of contact, and you will be welcomed to visit any/all of our ‘umbrella’ parts.

No DBS check is required for this role, and it is open to anyone aged 18 or over. Any applicants will need to be able to use Squarespace to develop and manage our website, be Social Media savvy and be happy to use Mailchimp, or a similar package to communicate with our members.

Could this be you? We would love to speak to you if you are interested.
