Ward Helper Volunteer Crowborough – Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking for volunteers for our intermediate care units in East and West Sussex, where our patients are offered short-term recovery and rehabilitation. SCFT aims to support all patients during their stay and works towards their discharge from hospital. Volunteers aid patients' recovery and help provide a positive experience whilst in hospital. This role is to support patients by offering companionship and being a 'Friendly Face' and to also support the ward/facilities staff with practical tasks, including helping out at patient mealtimes (please note that some volunteer shifts are outside of mealtimes and therefore during these, there will be no tasks related to mealtimes to undertake). Complementary Therapist – St Peter & St James Hospice

The core responsibilities of a complementary therapist are to consult with the patient before any treatment, deliver various therapies such as aromatherapy, messages, reflexology or reiki treatments. To record treatments administered, manage your appointments and caseload, and attend team meetings. Anyone applying to this role must have the relevant qualifications in various therapy and treatments to administer them. They must also have 6 months experience in a similar role, and be a member of a recognised professional body (eg FHT).

Volunteer Activity Companion (Day Centre) – Sussex Support Service

They are looking for someone to welcome those using the centre, taking coats, and settling the service user area of the centre. You'll be befriending, supporting and helping those using the centre to engage in activities and conversation, and provide the Day Centre Coordinator with practical help to ensure the smooth running of the day. Engaging service users in activities, including but not restricted to: Singing Arts & Crafts Physical Activities Cognitive Activities Conversation Reminiscence Activities These may be led by the Day Centre Coordinator, an outside facilitator or if yourself (as and when you feel confident to do so). The activities may be in a group or 1-1 depending on the needs and requirement of the service user.
