You’ll support recycling efforts, keep walkways and storage areas organised, ensure stock is clearly labelled, and work closely with the Warehouse Manager to maintain a tidy, well‑run space. As a Customer Service Volunteer you will get the chance to meet new people and make friends, plus play a vital role in helping to raise funds to support local older people. You will be working on the shop floor as the welcoming face of our charity. Serving customers with a smile, using the till (don't worry, we will show you how) and handling money and sales.
Join our team as a Volunteer Befriender and help make East Sussex a great place to grow older. Our Befriending 123 Service is a 26-week programme where you’re matched with one or more older people for weekly support, either by telephone or face-to-face, depending on what works best. We ask for a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week.

Do you have 3-4 hours a week to make a real difference? We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to support older people to reconnect with their community and reduce loneliness.
Do you have experience constructing model kits? This can be with plastic model kits, scratch-building, or general woodworking experience. As part of creating our museum experience, we are seeking model maker volunteers to help construct an array of aviation models to go on display. This is a relaxed position where you'll be guided through the process of what we're looking to build, before using your own initiative to work on an item.
We are looking for volunteers to help with fundraising and social activities, by attending events and engaging with the public about the work we do. Fundraising at events we attend can be in many forms; running a classic tombola, or a raffle for example, but we are open to ideas from volunteers about other methods to generate funds, especially those which engage the public and inspire them to learn about civil aviation history.
We are only a small team of volunteers and we are looking for some extra committee members with past charity experience to join us to help build the charity and raise the funds we need to build our museum and guide us in the right direction. In terms of committee meetings we meet once every two weeks on a Thursday at the Grenadier pub in Hailsham.
As part of our friendly team, you will attend local groups and community activities, offering information, guidance, and signposting to relevant services, support organisations, and community groups. You may also help people complete a range of forms, including Attendance Allowance applications and other benefit-related paperwork, giving them the confidence and support they need to access available help.
