Computer Help at Home Volunteer – Association of Carers

This role involves teaching basic IT skills, and guiding carer's who aren't quite as confident at using a computer and/or the internet through the actions they require. This can be online shopping or banking, using a program to call over the internet, helping to set up an NHS online account or maybe email address. It's suitable for anyone who has a decent grasp of IT, but is also a good communicator who is patient and understanding. This will take place at the carer's home, and will usually last for two hours each session for up to six weeks.

Befriending and Respite Volunteer – Association of Carers

Befriending and Respite volunteers are there to meet with someone in need of care, giving the carer a few hours for themselves. The role is socialising, offering them an ear, maybe playing a game. The Association tries to match volunteers with those who hold similar interests. The role is roughly 3 hours a week. A DBS check is required, which The Association of Carers will apply for on your behalf. Only those aged 18 or over are suitable. Mileage and expenses are paid for. Full training will be given.

Events Volunteer – East Sussex Hearing

Events Volunteers represents East Sussex Hearing when getting the word out to members of the public about who they are and the important work they do. They provide a friendly and helpful presence at local events, handing out flyers or engaging in chats to signpost what services are offered for example, as well as advice about hearing loss. You'll also be helping to promote events by word of mouth and distributing materials, and assisting with setting up for events (such as a gazebo, table etc).

Befriending Volunteers – Age UK East Sussex

We'd love you to be part of our Team and help support older persons in East Sussex. As a permanent Befriender Volunteer, you will be making sure that older people can access the services they require and making the County a great place to grow old. You will also meet new people, via phone, and occasionally in person (if you want to and its relevant). You will be part of a great team of volunteers. You'll love to speak to people and have a caring and empathetic nature as you will be phoning older people for a chat to identify their service requirements. We will provide you with support, the required training and reimburse your telephone expenses. You will need you own phone (we can show you how to hide your number) and ideally, internet access. The hours for this role are flexible and you can work from the comfort of your own home. Its so easy to start volunteering with us. This role requires you to be aged 18+. Please note that this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, UK-based, specifically for UK volunteers.
