We are looking for volunteers to join the team, once a month, to assist with our Community Lunch Club. Serving food and drinks to our guests, and clearing tables etc. Joining in with the team, and having fun at the same time! A DBS check is required, but we will apply for one free of charge. The Community Lunch Club takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 11.30am to 2.45pm.
The Tuesday Warm Welcome is a weekly event open to anyone living Uckfield or the surrounding area. It is held every Tuesday morning at the Luxford Centre in Uckfield, in the Tyler Room, where it offers a place for people to gather and socialise, enjoy a hot drink, play a game or just sit and relax. Three helpers are needed for each session. You will not be required every Tuesday. The helpers role is to make our visitors feel welcome, make drinks and prepare simple snacks and generally join in with the chatter or activities. This would suit someone sociable who is used to dealing with the public and loves talking to people. With this role you will be helping people who may experience loneliness. It is very rewarding. There is free parking in the adjacent car parks. Volunteers work on Tuesdays as and when it suits them, there is no fixed rota. Applicants will need to be DBS checked, which will be arranged and paid for by the Association.

We are recruiting for a volunteer to take charge of our website, which was developed fairly early on in our lifetime, but now needs a revamp in line with how our organisation has evolved and developed. The start point would be having a discussion with each of our relevant parts to determine their own system requirements. The next action would be to assess whether our existing Wordpress site is sufficient for the job, and then it would mean either converting to another platform, or enhancing our existing one. There are no fixed or rigid timescales associated with this project. We anticipate that most of the investigation, analysis, design and implementation can be delivered remotely, however we would be eager to meet up, to ensure that we have the opportunity to really be clear about who we are and what we want to project. Should this require travel, we would be happy to cover mileage expenses.
The role chiefly involves maintaining the cleanliness of St Peter and St James facilities, ensuring that trays are cleared, utensils washed, the staff kitchenettes are cleaned and restocked. It will also involve fulfilling any basic food preparation duties communicated by the cook when functions take place. This role is perfect for anyone looking to gain experience in a kitchen environment.
They are looking for volunteers who could join our team who carry out maintenance as required in Bridge Cottage, Nutley Windmill and our charity shop. This could involve minor electrical repairs, painting, making good on walls as required, etc. Bridge Cottage needs internal painting, and this could be included in the role. All aspects of the role would be subject to arrangements, to suit the needs of volunteers and of the Society. They are looking for competent maintenance people to work as a team alongside existing volunteers, or individually, as required. Hours will not be on a regular basis, but as needed. Ideally, applicants will have basic electrical skills and understanding, woodworking, painting, minor repairs, and the ability to work with others in a volunteer setting.
They are looking for someone to welcome those using the centre, taking coats, and settling the service user area of the centre. You'll be befriending, supporting and helping those using the centre to engage in activities and conversation, and provide the Day Centre Coordinator with practical help to ensure the smooth running of the day. Engaging service users in activities, including but not restricted to: Singing Arts & Crafts Physical Activities Cognitive Activities Conversation Reminiscence Activities These may be led by the Day Centre Coordinator, an outside facilitator or if yourself (as and when you feel confident to do so). The activities may be in a group or 1-1 depending on the needs and requirement of the service user.
They are looking for any volunteers who can perform general maintenance, and volunteers specifically for electrical appliances. They are also looking for a sharpening expert for any tools brought in. Workshops take place on the 4th Saturday of the month, and typically run from 9:30am til 12pm. Tea and coffee and homemade cakes are provided during sessions.
They are looking for volunteers to assist in the setup and running of their weekly Nibbles and Natter session, which is part of a local warm spaces initiative. Warm spaces are hosted by various venues in Uckfield throughout this winter, to help residents cope with the inflated energy bills. Ridgewood's session is on a Wednesday, and volunteers will be needed from 11:30am until 2pm. They are looking for assistance between September and the following April. Duties include setting up and putting away tables and chairs, serving tea, coffee, soup and cake as well as interacting with the attendees, helping with signposting to other services if necessary.
