Respite for Healthcare Volunteer – Association of Carers

A Respite for Healthcare Volunteer spends time with a cared for individual, allowing their carer to attend their healthcare appointments. Notice of any appointments is usually given a week in advance, and volunteers will be briefed on what the interests are of the individual they will attend. This role will suit someone who is good at communicating and listening, but also confident in a crisis should one arise. It's hours are adhoc, providing short term cover. A DBS check is required, which the Association of Carers will apply for on your behalf. Only those aged 18 or over are suitable. Mileage and expenses are paid for. Full training will be given.

Volunteer Driver – Association of Carers

Volunteer Drivers assist by transporting both volunteers who can't drive or don't have access to a vehicle to the carer's home and back again, and carer's to appointments or a day activity. Any applicants will require their own vehicle and a full clean driver's licence. Having a good knowledge of local roads and routes, and being a good communicator will also benefit anyone in this role. Volunteers decide the area they can help out in, as well as the hours they are available for. A DBS check is required, which the Association of Carers will apply for on your behalf. Talk and Support Volunteer – Association of Carers

This role involves phoning a carer you will be matched with, and having a conversation of roughly 30 minutes, providing an outlet for the carer to discuss their position in confidence. These conversations will take place on a regular basis, gradually reducing in frequency over a 6 month period. The opportunity is perfect for anyone with a background as a carer, or an empathetic individual who is a good listener. A DBS check is required, which the Association of Carers will apply for on your behalf. Only those aged 18 or over are suitable. Mileage and expenses are paid for. Full training will be given.

Crowdfunding Organiser – Artytime

Artytime are looking for a volunteer with crowdfunding experience to conduct the campaign for their upcoming planned expansion of the scrapstore. This expansion will provide workshop and studio space, and double up as a youth centre in the evenings. Any applicants will need experience with social media, as promoting any community fundraising initiatives via social media will be key. This role is remote, and can be carried out from home as and when it suits you so it is extremely flexible. There will be required meetings with the manager and project leader, but these can be either face to face or via zoom online. Any agreed upon out of pocket expenses will be covered by Artytime.

Sunday Morning Driver Volunteer – Holy Cross Church Uckfield

The church are looking for a volunteer driver in the New Year to help out with getting a few of their congregation to services on a Sunday. This would involve both bringing passengers and delivering them home. Services are typically at 9:30am, but the second Sunday of the month is at 10:00am. If there are multiple applicants a rota can be set up. This role will only take a small amount of your time once each week, but will make a big difference in allowing those in need of the service to practice their faith still. Due to the older parishioners in need of the service potentially being classed as vulnerable adults, a DBS check may be required. Mileage will be paid for.

Ward Helper Volunteer Crowborough – Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking for volunteers for our intermediate care units in East and West Sussex, where our patients are offered short-term recovery and rehabilitation. SCFT aims to support all patients during their stay and works towards their discharge from hospital. Volunteers aid patients' recovery and help provide a positive experience whilst in hospital. This role is to support patients by offering companionship and being a 'Friendly Face' and to also support the ward/facilities staff with practical tasks, including helping out at patient mealtimes (please note that some volunteer shifts are outside of mealtimes and therefore during these, there will be no tasks related to mealtimes to undertake). Trustee – Sussex Trug Heritage Centre

The Heritage Centre company offers an important way for the community to provide help in stabilising Sussex Trug production and create job opportunities for people of all ages within a revitalised industry. It will also create an interesting tourist attraction for Wealden. This is a new board of trustees and will be committed to shaping the future of the Sussex Trug Industry for future generations. The board members should have the potential to help define the direction of the organisation and support staff and volunteers. An enthusiastic Trustee Board of, initially, four members, will comprise professionals from different disciplines including legal, financial, management and marketing. Members of the board will help provide funds and training for new employees and volunteers. Members would be expected to meet every three months and to be able to undertake projects to help achieve the goals of the not-for-profit company. It may be necessary for Zoom or Team meetings to take place occasionally outside of board meetings.

Volunteer Youth Work Assistant for SEND Sessions – Youth Hub East Sussex

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support the running of youth sessions for young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). This session occurs once a week and is for young people aged 13 – 19 years old. Each week we complete different activities such as cooking, arts and crafts and sports. We are a safe space for young people to make new friends, seek support and advice and try new things. You may be someone with previous experience of working with young people, working with people with SEND, or you might be looking to gain a valuable insight into youth work. You may have a skill or profession that you can teach our young people such as woodwork, or you may have some time available where you would like to give back to your local community. Volunteers can be 16+ and will need to complete a DBS check with us. We are looking for volunteers who are eager to make a significant difference to the lives of young people.
