Volunteer Car Driver for Medical Service – Age Concern Heathfield and District

As a volunteer driver, this role involves collecting clients from their home, taking them to their appointments, waiting and bringing them home again. On occasions you may be asked to escort the client to their appointment. You must have a full clean driving license, and access to your own car for this role. You must also retain a friendly manner in assisting clients. An advanced DBS check will be arranged by Age Concern Heathfield. Mileage is paid at 45p/mile and all other expenses are paid by the charity. This role will make a direct impact on people utilising the service, giving them the ability to attend important medical appointments. Drivers – TN22 Club/ENGAge

They are seeking drivers for their clubs, helping to transport their members to and from the meetings on a Wednesday. You will only require a full clean drivers licence, and access to your own vehicle for this role. Mileage is paid at 45p per mile and you will just need to inform your insurance company that you are driving on a voluntary basis and that there are no hire charges. Their meetings take place on Wednesdays, with the TN22 Club and TN22 Plus Club running on alternative weeks. The TN22 Club is from 10:30am to 2:00pm, and the TN22 Plus Club is from 10:30am to 3:30pm.

Volunteer Drivers – Uckfield Area Care Drivers

They are in need of drivers, able to transport elderly persons from their homes to their medical appointments at whatever hospital or clinic is required. They cover the TN22 area surgeries as well as hospitals at Brighton, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne, East Grinstead, Crowborough, Redhill, Lewes, Bexhill, Pembury, and Hastings. Drivers will only be required to give up a few hours of their time. Mileage expenses can be claimed at 55p per mile. Parking fees are also reimbursed. Insurance companies will need to be informed that you are taking people to appointments but because it is on a voluntary basis and there is no hire charge, no added costs will be incurred.

Complete a quick log after each trip and let the team know if anything needs attention. Lend a helping hand when children and young people are getting on and off the bus — including safely securing wheelchairs.

Volunteer Relief Driver – VIEW Craft

VIEW Craft are looking for a relief driver to cover any absences of their regular drivers. Their craft sessions run on a Tuesday morning from 10am until 12pm during school term time. These take place at Herstmonceux Village Hall. Any members requiring a lift will need to be collected from their homes and taken to the village hall, drivers are then welcome to stay for the 2 hours if they wish, or come back for the end of the session for the return journey. Those who choose to wait at the hall, tea and coffee is provided, and if you'd like you're welcome to help with the session as a volunteer, as multiple roles are available. Members can live anywhere within the Wealden area. Drivers will undergo a DBS check, and are asked to check that their car insurance covers voluntary driving. They need to ensure that their car is kept in good working order. In some cases a member may need to transport a walking aid or guide dog with them.

Volunteer Driver – Association of Carers

Volunteer Drivers assist by transporting both volunteers who can't drive or don't have access to a vehicle to the carer's home and back again, and carer's to appointments or a day activity. Any applicants will require their own vehicle and a full clean driver's licence. Having a good knowledge of local roads and routes, and being a good communicator will also benefit anyone in this role. Volunteers decide the area they can help out in, as well as the hours they are available for. A DBS check is required, which the Association of Carers will apply for on your behalf. Only those aged 18 or over are suitable. Mileage and expenses are paid for. Full training will be given.

Sunday Morning Driver Volunteer – Holy Cross Church Uckfield

The church are looking for a volunteer driver in the New Year to help out with getting a few of their congregation to services on a Sunday. This would involve both bringing passengers and delivering them home. Services are typically at 9:30am, but the second Sunday of the month is at 10:00am. If there are multiple applicants a rota can be set up. This role will only take a small amount of your time once each week, but will make a big difference in allowing those in need of the service to practice their faith still. Due to the older parishioners in need of the service potentially being classed as vulnerable adults, a DBS check may be required. Mileage will be paid for.
