Sunday Morning Garden Volunteers – Brighter Uckfield

We are seeking volunteers for Sunday mornings, both regular and occasional, who can help out between the hours of 9 and 11 am. Tasks include trimming bushes, clearing pavements, and sweeping public areas, as well as seasonal jobs such as leaf clearing in the Autumn, and watering in the summer. There is no age limit for this role, youngsters are welcome to volunteer with their parents. Client Contact Team Member – Crowborough Foodbank

The Crowborough FoodBank are looking for volunteers to make calls to our households on a Thursday morning. This is an important role, as volunteers guide them through our process, giving choices on food options and where applicable suggesting other support they might also access. Anyone can find themselves in food crisis and our caring phone calls reassure that help is at hand. No previous experience is necessary. Further details about the client contact role can be found below: Team members undertake client contact through phone, text or email with an aim of: Providing clients with a security of knowledge that they will receive a food parcel in the next weekly delivery. Determine dietary requirement and requests for other food offers - household, toiletries, pet food and fresh produce. Explaining the delivery process to the client and the three day food parcel contents. Confirming that someone in the household will be there to accept the delivery between set times. Signpost/refer to other support agencies when appropriate, including undertaking a referral, co-ordinating pick up from local charities and delivery to the client. Provide an opportunity to listen and support (not advise) clients. Update clients with information provided by the Crowborough Foodbank eg SE Water rebates, free transport to vaccination centres, census support etc.

Volunteer Relief Driver – VIEW Craft

VIEW Craft are looking for a relief driver to cover any absences of their regular drivers. Their craft sessions run on a Tuesday morning from 10am until 12pm during school term time. These take place at Herstmonceux Village Hall. Any members requiring a lift will need to be collected from their homes and taken to the village hall, drivers are then welcome to stay for the 2 hours if they wish, or come back for the end of the session for the return journey. Those who choose to wait at the hall, tea and coffee is provided, and if you'd like you're welcome to help with the session as a volunteer, as multiple roles are available. Members can live anywhere within the Wealden area. Drivers will undergo a DBS check, and are asked to check that their car insurance covers voluntary driving. They need to ensure that their car is kept in good working order. In some cases a member may need to transport a walking aid or guide dog with them.

Events Volunteer – Wealden Volunteering

We are currently seeking volunteers to help out at events. Wealden Volunteering appear at all kinds of events throughout the year, making sure we have a visible presence in the community to help people get into volunteering, and find the right opportunity to give their time for. At events our volunteers are on hand to answer any questions the public may have, offering a friendly introduction to their own path into volunteering, as well as any local information they may require. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, where you give the hours you're able to. Whether you can help set up or take down our stall, or man it during the day, any kind of help is welcome. Any applicants will need to be comfortable interacting with the public, and be able to offer a positive and welcoming attitude. You will be given any training required, and we always have multiple volunteers at any one time so you won't be on your own. Events such as our Networking Lunches or Job/Volunteer Fairs take place during the week, whereas larger events tend to be hosted at weekends. There is no commitment to assist with every event, it may be you're only able to help during the holidays or visa versa, however we would ask that any volunteers are able to help at a reasonable number.

Office Volunteer – Wealden Volunteering

Currently at Wealden Volunteering we are looking for additional friendly faces in our Uckfield office. It doesn’t matter how old you are, we have a complete range of ages in our office. You don’t need to have specialized skills though they’re always welcome. Our office procedures will be taught to anyone joining us, as will any IT skills to get you up and running should you require them. All you need is a willingness to help people. The responsibilities of our office volunteers vary, as we take on tasks best suited to each of us; such as processing volunteer applications, putting together displays or placing opportunities on our website, though we all chip in with greeting any visitors and assisting them with whatever requests or queries they have.  There are many different roles at the Centre so let us know what you are comfortable doing or what you would like to learn as this can provide a great way of gaining experience.

Warm Welcome Helper – Manor Park and Hempstead Fields Residents’ Association

The Tuesday Warm Welcome is a weekly event open to anyone living Uckfield or the surrounding area. It is held every Tuesday morning at the Luxford Centre in Uckfield, in the Tyler Room, where it offers a place for people to gather and socialise, enjoy a hot drink, play a game or just sit and relax. Three helpers are needed for each session. You will not be required every Tuesday. The helpers role is to make our visitors feel welcome, make drinks and prepare simple snacks and generally join in with the chatter or activities. This would suit someone sociable who is used to dealing with the public and loves talking to people. With this role you will be helping people who may experience loneliness. It is very rewarding. There is free parking in the adjacent car parks. Volunteers work on Tuesdays as and when it suits them, there is no fixed rota. Applicants will need to be DBS checked, which will be arranged and paid for by the Association.

Youth Leader – Crowborough Youth Club

We are looking for adult volunteers to help facilitate sessions. This position is flexible, there are opportunities to volunteer once or twice a month or every Monday. We aim to have at least 3 volunteers on site, using a rota to organise shifts and time off. There is no upper age limit for this role as we believe young people can benefit from the experience and wisdom of the older generation. Also if you are 18 and thinking of a career in youth work this would be ideal experience to enhance your CV. If you have a skill to share then this can be promoted as an ad-hoc activity too. A DBS check is required, however we will organise it.

Volunteer Box Collector – Crowborough Foodbank

We are seeking drivers to collect empty boxes from Lidl supermarket in Crowborough and deliver them to the Foodbank warehouse at Barnsgate Manor in Heron's Ghyll (just outside of Crowborough). These boxes are vital for our deliveries of emergency food supplies to the community. It would suit someone with an hour to spare each week and who has a car. Your vehicle will require insurance that covers voluntary work, however most insurers will provide this free of charge. We ask for no more than a hour per week. You would be allocated a morning, or afternoon, slot depending on your availability.
