Companion volunteers are there to assist both the carer and patient, offering their support and reassurance. Duties include attending home visits to help out with practical tasks, checking in on their well-being, and reporting and recording your visits with a carer. They're looking for friendly and approachable candidates, who are punctual, will adhere to the professional boundaries of the role, can work in a team, and are computer literate enough to email their reports and recorded information.

Marketing Volunteer – Sussex Trug Heritage Centre

This role primarily utilises social media to inform the wider world of their craft and products and to ensure that all available media channels are used. The Marketing Volunteer will prepare blogs and other marketing information and use the company's Instagram and Facebook pages to spread the word about the activities of the centre. They'll develop other social media outlets for coverage around the world. The volunteer will need to do this at the Thomas Smith's Trug Shop in Magham Down using the company's computers and resources. They ask for a commitment of one half day a week, but if you are able and willing then more days are welcome.

Maintenance Assistant – Uckfield Heritage

They are looking for volunteers who could join our team who carry out maintenance as required in Bridge Cottage, Nutley Windmill and our charity shop. This could involve minor electrical repairs, painting, making good on walls as required, etc. Bridge Cottage needs internal painting, and this could be included in the role. All aspects of the role would be subject to arrangements, to suit the needs of volunteers and of the Society. They are looking for competent maintenance people to work as a team alongside existing volunteers, or individually, as required. Hours will not be on a regular basis, but as needed. Ideally, applicants will have basic electrical skills and understanding, woodworking, painting, minor repairs, and the ability to work with others in a volunteer setting.

Volunteer Activity Companion (Day Centre) – Sussex Support Service

They are looking for someone to welcome those using the centre, taking coats, and settling the service user area of the centre. You'll be befriending, supporting and helping those using the centre to engage in activities and conversation, and provide the Day Centre Coordinator with practical help to ensure the smooth running of the day. Engaging service users in activities, including but not restricted to: Singing Arts & Crafts Physical Activities Cognitive Activities Conversation Reminiscence Activities These may be led by the Day Centre Coordinator, an outside facilitator or if yourself (as and when you feel confident to do so). The activities may be in a group or 1-1 depending on the needs and requirement of the service user.

Publicist – Artytime

They are looking for a publicist to help network and spread the word about the work they do, achieving this by utilising social media, emailing and general networking. The role will require an understanding of social media and IT, as well as good written English. The role is flexible, working to a brief and reporting to managers about projects. It isn't a time intensive role, but is ad-hoc based on when there is a need to promote events/activities. Ideal for someone 17+ wanting to work from home, although they can experience Artytime's activities too. All agreed out of pocket expenses will be paid. This will suit anyone in marketing, PR or wanting experience in this field.

Young Carer Activities Volunteer – Care for the Carers

Help provide a supportive, safe, fun environment for young carers at a monthly young carers group on Tuesday evenings in Eastbourne. Support activity days during the school holidays (depending on availability). Days out include trips to the zoo, paintballing and outdoor adventure activities. The role will involve: Attending monthly club for young carers aged 8-17 Providing support for activities at the club such as games, sports, arts and crafts Providing general supervision of children and young people Helping to set up and clear away before and after the group.

Nibbles and Natter Volunteers – Ridgewood Village Hall

They are looking for volunteers to assist in the setup and running of their weekly Nibbles and Natter session, which is part of a local warm spaces initiative. Warm spaces are hosted by various venues in Uckfield throughout this winter, to help residents cope with the inflated energy bills. Ridgewood's session is on a Wednesday, and volunteers will be needed from 11:30am until 2pm. They are looking for assistance between September and the following April. Duties include setting up and putting away tables and chairs, serving tea, coffee, soup and cake as well as interacting with the attendees, helping with signposting to other services if necessary.

Museum Volunteer – Bluebell Railway Trust Museum

There are a number of opportunities for the museum, with roles to do with greeting visitors and caring for the museum and its collection, roles to assist with the management of the museum, and roles running the steamworks visitor attraction. You do not need to know anything about railways to volunteer, and the work suits all ages and genders. Minors will need to accompanied by an adult. Hours are flexible, with normal hours for guides from 10am - 4:30pm, however half days can be arranged. Other roles can be as little as a few hours, and you can choose the days you volunteer on a monthly basis.
