As one of our dedicated drivers, you’ll play a vital role in helping children and young people access exciting experiences, build confidence, and enjoy greater independence. Purpose of the Role To make a real difference in the lives of children and young people by driving them to places where they can learn, explore, and have fun. What You’ll Do Carry out simple vehicle safety checks to make sure the minibus is safe and ready for the journey. Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and welcoming for everyone on board. Complete a quick log after each trip and let the team know if anything needs attention. Lend a helping hand when children and young people are getting on and off the bus — including safely securing wheelchairs.

Ecology Officer – Bluebell Railway

The Bluebell Railway wishes to engage a volunteer Ecology Officer to advise the railway on ecological matters. This exciting opportunity is a new role to the railway as we seek to enhance our management of our land for the benefit of future generations. The railway has 11 miles of track bed, which includes grasslands, woodlands, tunnels, water courses, embankments and cuttings, much of which is out of bounds to the public and thus largely undisturbed, apart from passing trains. The hours would be flexible but estimated to be around one day a week. The outputs from the role will be: Create a database of flora and fauna within our boundary. Create a strategic plan to encourage biodiversity. Work on habitat management. Advise the railway on matters arising from the flora and fauna. Identify and apply for any grants that may apply to encourage environmental and biodiversity initiatives. Produce monthly or quarterly reports as required. Make the Infrastructure Director lots of tea.

Cricket Outfield Grounds Person – National Trust Sheffield Park and Garden

With a love of the outdoors, the grounds person will help to maintain our historic Cricket Pitch, keeping it match ready in the Cricket Season and maintaining it during the off season. Tasks include: Interacting with visiting members of the public, answering queries and questions. Using a ride on mower and pedestrian mower. In-house training will be provided for machines. Cricket Guide – National Trust Sheffield Park and Garden

We’re looking for cricket fans, or people with an interest in history, to be friendly roving guides for visitors to our historic Sheffield Park cricket pitch. This role will suit you if you're enthusiastic and friendly, enjoy meeting people and like working as part of a team. An interest in history and cricket would be useful, but a willingness to learn is more important. This role will involve being outdoors for extended periods of time. After an informal interview, a taster session and training, a new volunteer can start signing on the rota, which offers a opportunities to volunteer on most days throughout the year. Sunday Morning Garden Volunteers – Brighter Uckfield

We are seeking volunteers for Sunday mornings, both regular and occasional, who can help out between the hours of 9 and 11 am. Tasks include trimming bushes, clearing pavements, and sweeping public areas, as well as seasonal jobs such as leaf clearing in the Autumn, and watering in the summer. There is no age limit for this role, youngsters are welcome to volunteer with their parents. Events Volunteer – Wealden Volunteering

We are currently seeking volunteers to help out at events. Wealden Volunteering appear at all kinds of events throughout the year, making sure we have a visible presence in the community to help people get into volunteering, and find the right opportunity to give their time for. At events our volunteers are on hand to answer any questions the public may have, offering a friendly introduction to their own path into volunteering, as well as any local information they may require. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, where you give the hours you're able to. Whether you can help set up or take down our stall, or man it during the day, any kind of help is welcome. Any applicants will need to be comfortable interacting with the public, and be able to offer a positive and welcoming attitude. You will be given any training required, and we always have multiple volunteers at any one time so you won't be on your own. Events such as our Networking Lunches or Job/Volunteer Fairs take place during the week, whereas larger events tend to be hosted at weekends. There is no commitment to assist with every event, it may be you're only able to help during the holidays or visa versa, however we would ask that any volunteers are able to help at a reasonable number.

Community Ambassadors – Age UK

Our Community Ambassador volunteers will be made up of members of the communities in East Sussex who can get out and about delivering event and activity posters, and other types of promotional materials in their area. We have a list of supermarkets, libraries and other public buildings with high footfall where we want to display our materials. We are looking for 2 volunteers - one for the Eastbourne area and one for Lewes, to help us do this. The days and times for this role will be arranged with the volunteer. No DBS check is required for this position, however applicants will be to be aged 18 or over, and reasonable travel expenses will be covered.

Football Club Volunteers – AFC Uckfield Town

The club are looking for volunteers to help in the preparation for their home matches, and hospitality during. The role is more of a general one, assisting where required to help get everything ready and run smoothly during matches. Home matches are usually played on Saturdays and Tuesdays during a season, at their home The Oaks on Eastbourne Road, there may also be additional days where an event or work parties when organised. As a volunteer you'll enjoy free entry to home games.
