Volunteer Trading Assistant Heathfield – Demelza Children’s Hospice

We are seeking a Volunteer Trading Assistant for our shop in Heathfield. Our shops provide a vital source of income, helping us to care for children and their families. Giving a small portion of your free time goes a long way to making this happen. Volunteers will be supporting the shop manager, helping to sort, display and sell donated items of clothing and other sundries. You'll be given full training for using the till, and dealing with cash or credit card payments. You choose the amount of hours you can give, we are flexible with scheduling, and only ask that you give as much notice as possible should you be unable to cover a shift. We will be open every day of the week with times to be confirmed. The minimum age for this role is 16, with no upper age. Expenses can be paid for mileage costs. No DBS is required. A uniform can be provided if requested. Our new Heathfield shop is proposed to have ground floor facilities (kitchen and lavatory) to support those who struggle with mobility. We are planning to open in the 1st week of September, and any support that volunteers can offer during the core opening times would be amazing.

Heathfield Shop Volunteer – Demelza Children’s Hospice

Do you enjoy meeting people? Do you have a talent for delivering fantastic customer service? Why not volunteer in your local Demelza shop in Heathfield? We are looking for volunteers on Monday afternoons, Tuesday afternoons, Friday afternoons and Saturdays. Just a few hours a week can make a big difference, helping the Demelza team to raise funds to support children in the community who have serious or life-limiting conditions. This role is open to anyone aged 16 or over. The shop is open from 9am till 4:30pm Monday to Saturday.

Distribution Centre Flexible Volunteer – St Peter & St James Hospice

The Distribution Centre is where all of the stock heading for sale either online or to the hospices' shops is sorted. Duties for volunteers vary from shift to shift with tasks such as sorting items, packaging for distribution, maintaining the warehouse, and testing electronic devices should you be interested. As a behind the scenes role you won't be required to interact with the general public, but will be working within a team. This role is perfect for anyone looking gain experience working in a warehouse. This role is located in Hurstpierpoint. They ask that you commit to a minimum of 4 hours a week helping out.

Volunteer Retail Assistant Uckfield – St Peter & St James Hospice

Volunteer Retail Assistants attend to the running of St Peter and St James Hospices' shops, performing general tasks associated with running a store on the high street. These can include getting stock ready for sale, cleaning and arranging the shop floor, assisting and serving customers, and being aware of confidential procedures. This role would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a team and helping the general public, but would also suit someone looking to improve in these areas, as well as gain experience in retail.

Working with other volunteers, you would help with sorting goods donated by members of the public and preparing them for sale in the shop. Online Seller – Uckfield Heritage

Uckfield Heritage are looking for volunteers to conduct online sales via ebay and social media, as well as expanding their reach on social media. Any applicants will need to be IT literate, and comfortable selling items online. An understanding of social media sales would be essential. The volunteer would need to liaise with the shop managers in terms of which items were to be sold, and co-operate with any promotions or similar being run by the shop. Hours are by arrangement. The shop is open 6 days a week, 9-00 to 4-00. Volunteers would work hours convenient to them. This role could be carried out from within the shop during shop hours, or in the evenings/weekends. These arrangements would be discussed with the shop managers before the volunteer starts.

The role would require the volunteer to be visible in the sales area, talking to customers and guiding them to what they are looking for, as well as ensuring shelves are as tidy as possible and items of clothing that fall from hangars are replaced. It would not normally require use of the till or card machine, unless the volunteer feels they are willing to do this. Essentially, the role is to ensure shelves and racks are tidy and people can find what they want. Hours are by arrangement. The shop is open 6 days a week, 9-00 to 4-00. Volunteers would work hours convenient to them. Some of their current people offer half a day a week, others a couple of hours here and there - they are grateful for the support volunteers can offer.

Cashier Volunteer – Uckfield Heritage

They are seeking volunteers to sell items to customers in their Uckfield shop, and take payments in cash or by card. The role requires contact with customers. Full training will be given in the use of the till and card machine (neither of which is complex), and there will always be a paid member of staff available if you run into any problems. Hours are by arrangement. The shop is open 6 days a week, 9-00 to 4-00. Volunteers would work hours convenient to them. Some of their current volunteers offer half a day a week, others a couple of hours here and there - they are grateful for the support volunteers can offer. It would also be useful to have people who could cover for illness or holidays, sometimes at short notice. They are happy to talk to potential volunteers about how their available time can be used.
