Online Seller – Uckfield Heritage

Uckfield Heritage are looking for volunteers to conduct online sales via ebay and social media, as well as expanding their reach on social media. Any applicants will need to be IT literate, and comfortable selling items online. An understanding of social media sales would be essential. The volunteer would need to liaise with the shop managers in terms of which items were to be sold, and co-operate with any promotions or similar being run by the shop. Hours are by arrangement. The shop is open 6 days a week, 9-00 to 4-00. Volunteers would work hours convenient to them. This role could be carried out from within the shop during shop hours, or in the evenings/weekends. These arrangements would be discussed with the shop managers before the volunteer starts.

Shop Floor Volunteer – Uckfield Heritage

ckfield Heritage are recruiting volunteers for their shop floor, with duties including tidying shelves, replacing stock tried on by customers, and advising customers where they might find what they want. The role would require the volunteer to be visible in the sales area, talking to customers and guiding them to what they are looking for, as well as ensuring shelves are as tidy as possible and items of clothing that fall from hangars are replaced. It would not normally require use of the till or card machine, unless the volunteer feels they are willing to do this. Essentially, the role is to ensure shelves and racks are tidy and people can find what they want. Hours are by arrangement. The shop is open 6 days a week, 9-00 to 4-00. Volunteers would work hours convenient to them. Some of their current people offer half a day a week, others a couple of hours here and there - they are grateful for the support volunteers can offer.

Cashier Volunteer – Uckfield Heritage

They are seeking volunteers to sell items to customers in their Uckfield shop, and take payments in cash or by card. The role requires contact with customers. Full training will be given in the use of the till and card machine (neither of which is complex), and there will always be a paid member of staff available if you run into any problems. Hours are by arrangement. The shop is open 6 days a week, 9-00 to 4-00. Volunteers would work hours convenient to them. Some of their current volunteers offer half a day a week, others a couple of hours here and there - they are grateful for the support volunteers can offer. It would also be useful to have people who could cover for illness or holidays, sometimes at short notice. They are happy to talk to potential volunteers about how their available time can be used.

Cafe and Shop Volunteers – Chiddingly Shop

This rural village shop is seeking cafe and shop volunteers to assist and serve customers, in Chiddingly's very relaxed and beautiful setting. Duties will include: Serving customers, completing daily forms, preparing simple food and making hot drinks using the coffee machine - all of which training will be given for so no experience required, just the desire to learn and be friendly. Most volunteers cover 2 to 3 hours per week. No DBS required and we welcome all ages from 14 years upwards including Duke of Edinburgh students. Currently a variety of slots available including 10 to 12.30 on a Wednesday and Friday from 1.30 till 4 but other slots maybe available too.

Art Donations – Artytime

In order to fund the construction of a community skatepark in Crowborough, Artytime are seeking donations of works of art from any artists. You do not need to be a professional artist in order to donate a piece of art, any work they believe will sell is appreciated and welcome, as it is all going to a good cause. They are more than happy for any artists to promote their services and works via any donations. This is a great opportunity to get some of your work seen by a bigger audience if you paint as a hobby, whilst also helping to fund a local project benefitting children. And if you're a professional artist, this is a fantastic chance to utilise your skills, using art to improve the local community.

Volunteer Day Centre Assistant – Age We Care

They are looking for around 6 volunteers. The role is to support individuals with stimulating activities and to support with kitchen duties such as washing up, serving lunch, and supporting with general activities. Volunteers do not need to be IT literate but this is a great help if they are. It is a permanent position but they would be happy to accept volunteers who can only give up a couple of hours a week or just an hour. Any help is greatly appreciated. The role takes place every Tuesday & Thursday 10 am till 3.30 pm at St Bartholomew's Church in Cross in Hand. They close for 2 weeks over Christmas.

Independent Custody Visitor – Sussex Police Custody Centre

The Office of the Sussex PCC manages up to 45 dedicated volunteers who undertake vital duties for its Independent Custody Visiting (ICV) scheme. Unannounced visits are made by pairs of Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs) at varying times of the day and/or night to check on the treatment & welfare of people held in police custody. After every visit, the pair of visitors complete a written report form about their findings, which is then passed onto the ICV Scheme Manager at the Office of the Sussex PCC. ICV recommendations can require the police to make improvements for the welfare of detainees. Working as part of a local panel, they play a valuable role in maintaining public confidence in this important area of policing by making sure that detainees are treated well. Representatives from the community are recruited and appointed on a geographical basis to visit the five police custody centres including Eastbourne and Hastings.

Bus Driver – East Sussex Hearing

East Sussex Hearing are seeking someone to drive their outreach vehicle. This is an important role in spreading awareness of what the charity does and fundraising throughout the communities in East Sussex. The bus is roughly the same size as an NHS ambulance, and you will require a full clean C1 driving licence, as well as 2 years experience. Due to insurance reasons, please only persons over the age of 30 apply. Additionally, you'll be asked to perform health and safety checks on the vehicle as required, keeping it clean and tidy, assisting members of the public with accessing the services provided, and helping other volunteers to deliver advice. This role will suit someone who is friendly and engaging, who enjoys meeting new people and taking on a variety of tasks as part of a team. They are looking for a commitment of between 6 and 30 hours a month.

They are looking for a volunteer who is computer literate and has experience working with websites. The website provides information only. It requires updating every couple of months with news and photographs. In addition they produce a quarterly newsletter and require help uploading information on to a template. This is a remote role, and can be performed from home, hours are flexible due to the nature of the role. An advanced DBS check will be arranged by Age Concern Heathfield.

Administrator for Medical Car Service – Age Concern Heathfield and District

Age Concern Heathfield's Medical Car Service is vital in helping patients get to their medical appointments. The administrator role ensures the smooth running of that service. This role involves monitoring requests from clients for transport, which will be received by email. Following a request, you will contact a client to confirm receipt by telephone, before logging the trip on to a computerised calendar, and liaising with and arranging drivers. You can perform this role from home. It requires a decent level of computer literacy and organisational skills. All expenses will be covered by the charity. An advanced DBS check will be arranged by Age Concern Heathfield, full training will be provided. They ask that you can commit to 1-2 days a week for this role.
