Volunteer Drivers assist by transporting both volunteers who can't drive or don't have access to a vehicle to the carer's home and back again, and carer's to appointments or a day activity. Applicants will require their own vehicle and a full clean driver's licence. Having a good knowledge of local roads and routes, and being a good communicator will also benefit anyone in this role.
This role involves phoning a carer you will be matched with, and having a conversation of roughly 30 minutes, providing an outlet for the carer to discuss their position in confidence. These conversations will take place on a regular basis, gradually reducing in frequency over a 6-month period.
