Driver Coordinator – Uckfield Area Care Drivers

Currently within East Sussex there is an increasing need for driving services to get elderly persons to vital hospital appointments. Some individuals of an advanced age can find their independence limited, and having a service available to ensure they can attend appointments is a huge boost. An Administration Coordinator is a key part of the service Uckfield Area Care Drivers deliver, linking patients with volunteer drivers to ensure appointments can be attended on a due date. Communication with the drivers is essential, using the WhatsApp phone app as the main source for appointment planning. Having a basic knowledge of this app will be useful for any applicants. Patients will normally phone in to a dedicated telephone number asking for the service. After you have fielded their call, the coordinator then matches up a volunteer driver to get them to their appointment.

Office Volunteer – Wealden Volunteering

Currently at Wealden Volunteering we are looking for additional friendly faces in our Uckfield office. It doesn’t matter how old you are, we have a complete range of ages in our office. You don’t need to have specialized skills though they’re always welcome. Our office procedures will be taught to anyone joining us, as will any IT skills to get you up and running should you require them. All you need is a willingness to help people. The responsibilities of our office volunteers vary, as we take on tasks best suited to each of us; such as processing volunteer applications, putting together displays or placing opportunities on our website, though we all chip in with greeting any visitors and assisting them with whatever requests or queries they have.  There are many different roles at the Centre so let us know what you are comfortable doing or what you would like to learn as this can provide a great way of gaining experience.

Volunteer Adviser – Wealden Citizens Advice

Our team of more than 60 volunteers and 16 paid staff across our 3 offices in Crowborough, Hailsham and Uckfield assisted more than 3,300 clients in 2023/24 with over 17,600 issues. Our volunteers explore the client's issue with them, research the topic and provide them with information to move forward. We are very much in need of additional volunteer advisers. We ask volunteers to come 1 day a week between the hours of 9am - 3pm, no previous experience is necessary and full training is given. This is a rewarding role where advisers will answer the phone, use a computer to research the client’s issue and help them resolve their problems. Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
