Creative Arts Youth Work Volunteer – Heathfield Youth Hub

We are looking for ‘Creative Arts Facilitators’ to join our volunteer team. You may be an artist working with paint, fabric, wood or other materials who can create engaging activities for young people who are interested in art. You may also volunteer in the other activities that we offer, including sports, games, baking and well-being activities. Our youth sessions are all in the evenings, you may volunteer once a week or more or less often, depending on your availability. You will require a DBS check for this role which will be fully paid for by us. Applicants must be aged 16 or over. Mileage or public transport expenses are paid. As part of volunteer you will also be required to complete free training courses.

Music Maker Youth Work Volunteer – Heathfield Youth Hub

We are looking for ‘Music Makers’ to join our volunteer team. We would like to facilitate jamming sessions for young people to play and try out new instruments. You may have experience teaching music, know how to play an instrument or be able to facilitate workshops, bands or singing groups. If you are enthusiastic about music, you will be able to utilise our new music room for young people to its full potential. This role will begin in August/September and take place in the evenings. House Manager For Museums – Bluebell Railway Museum

We wish to recruit a person or persons who will be the volunteer House Manager(s) for the two attractions. This involves dealing with the repairs, maintenance of the exhibition areas and helping to keep them clean, tidy and safe. One of the exhibition areas is in the north end of the locomotive running shed and has a number of steam locomotives on display which are cared for by others as well as interactive displays and the other is a purpose-built museum which was first opened 14 years ago. Ideally, we would have a number of people fulfilling the role who would operate to a roster. They would be a need to visit the museums on their rostered days and deal with any issues that might have occurred. Tools and some materials are on site. The person would liaise with the stewards who are on duty in the museum and the Curator who they report to. Volunteers may elect to work as many or as few listed duties as they wish, and timing is flexible. If you think you might like to volunteer the Curator will call you to discuss fully the role more fully. There is no upper age limit for this role, and under 18's will be considered dependent on skills. Due to the museums' remote location it is advised that you have your own transportation.

Sunday Morning Garden Volunteers – Brighter Uckfield

We are seeking volunteers for Sunday mornings, both regular and occasional, who can help out between the hours of 9 and 11 am. Tasks include trimming bushes, clearing pavements, and sweeping public areas, as well as seasonal jobs such as leaf clearing in the Autumn, and watering in the summer. There is no age limit for this role, youngsters are welcome to volunteer with their parents. This opportunity is perfect for anyone interested in gardening, both those with experience or looking to gain it.

Volunteer Relief Driver – VIEW Craft

VIEW Craft are looking for a relief driver to cover any absences of their regular drivers. Their craft sessions run on a Tuesday morning from 10am until 12pm during school term time. These take place at Herstmonceux Village Hall. Any members requiring a lift will need to be collected from their homes and taken to the village hall, drivers are then welcome to stay for the 2 hours if they wish, or come back for the end of the session for the return journey. Those who choose to wait at the hall, tea and coffee is provided, and if you'd like you're welcome to help with the session as a volunteer, as multiple roles are available. Members can live anywhere within the Wealden area. Drivers will undergo a DBS check, and are asked to check that their car insurance covers voluntary driving. They need to ensure that their car is kept in good working order. In some cases a member may need to transport a walking aid or guide dog with them.

Events Volunteer – Wealden Volunteering

We are currently seeking volunteers to help out at events. Wealden Volunteering appear at all kinds of events throughout the year, making sure we have a visible presence in the community to help people get into volunteering, and find the right opportunity to give their time for. At events our volunteers are on hand to answer any questions the public may have, offering a friendly introduction to their own path into volunteering, as well as any local information they may require. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, where you give the hours you're able to. Whether you can help set up or take down our stall, or man it during the day, any kind of help is welcome. Any applicants will need to be comfortable interacting with the public, and be able to offer a positive and welcoming attitude. You will be given any training required, and we always have multiple volunteers at any one time so you won't be on your own. Events such as our Networking Lunches or Job/Volunteer Fairs take place during the week, whereas larger events tend to be hosted at weekends. There is no commitment to assist with every event, it may be you're only able to help during the holidays or visa versa, however we would ask that any volunteers are able to help at a reasonable number.
