Help preserve the Bluebell Railway’s historic carriages and other rolling stock by putting your welding skills to use. Working as part of a friendly volunteer team, you’ll carry out welding and associated metalwork as part of the restoration, repair and maintenance of our historic vehicles. This is an ongoing volunteer role with a variety of opportunities, ideal for people who enjoy working with others and keeping things organised.
Help bring the Bluebell Railway’s stations to life as part of a friendly volunteer team. Station Operatives help with the day-to-day running of our stations, welcoming visitors, assisting passengers, supporting train operations and helping keep the station looking its best. This is an ongoing volunteer role with plenty of variety and the opportunity to play an important part in the visitor experience.
Help keep the Bluebell Railway’s lineside safe, tidy and well maintained as part of a friendly volunteer team. This is an ongoing volunteer role involving practical outdoor work such as cutting back vegetation, clearing overgrowth and keeping the areas alongside the railway under control. In simple terms, it’s a bit like industrial gardening — but with a railway running alongside you!
Join our team as a Volunteer Befriender and help make East Sussex a great place to grow older. Our Befriending 123 Service is a 26-week programme where you’re matched with one or more older people for weekly support, either by telephone or face-to-face, depending on what works best. We ask for a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week.
